Updated: May 29, 2019
'International Music Summit is an educational, inspirational and motivational thought leadership platform dedicated to creating awareness of and appreciation for electronic music and the artistry related to DJing and all related art forms, through the presentation of summits and events that celebrate the historic and ongoing contribution of the genre to art and culture worldwide. IMS annually hosts major events globally in Ibiza, Los Angeles, and China.'
eclectic Toolbox were invited to the International Music Summit Breakfast Club by the Association for Electronic Music (AFEM) to speak about the latest strand to our business – Mental Health First Aid Training for the Music Industry.
Set inside the beautiful Tatel Restaurant within the Hard Rock Hotel the IMS Breakfast Club provided us with a platform to make our voices heard and engage with the industry on the critical conversation of why mental health awareness training can help to create a cultural change and is needed.
We were joined by members of AFEM and IMS attendees to speak alongside Aida Vazin and Claire Wright. Aida provides vital virtual support to busy, travelling professionals whilst Claire also champions pathways to better mental health in the music industry through an ingenious product to encourage and ensure safety in the live space. Something we can’t wait to see launched later this year!
At IMS we spoke about our mission to be at the forefront of cultural change in the music industry using mental health first aid training courses designed with the challenges of the industry in mind.
We wish to create a community and equip its members with the mental health awareness and skills needed to help shape an informed and healthier music industry.
This year we acquired Jaan Madan as Director of Business Development and Trainer to help us do this. With years of experience in enhancing approaches to workplace wellbeing; supporting the development of strategies that deliver whole organisational change to create mentally healthier working environments Jaan is perfectly placed to lead our organisation on it's mission .
You can find out more here about why alongside Ellie he is the perfect person to deliver this to the industry.
During our visit to Ibiza we spoke with many members of the electronic music industry about our mission and one thing was resoundingly clear – the industry needs this and we’re ready to deliver.
Offering in house courses direct to organisations and pop up events for all those contributing to the industry, ‘we’ve got this’.
At International Music Summit we announced ‘Project One’.
The aim of Project One is simple – we want to make an impact and we want to serve the industry we love. In one week, we will train 100 members of the music industry in mental health awareness starting in London before moving onto another city.
This one day mental health awareness and skills course will qualify participants as MHFA Champions.
